Very upset I missed Osama's death celebration but I am happy he is dead.
These spaniards don't really give a shit because they only care about their country.
Of course something exciting happens when we are gone, I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!
Just a little nervous to fly home to JFK on friday though...

Sorry I haven't updated
Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been pretty preoccupied hanging out in my bed, hanging out with bria and going out. 4 days til I go home. My brain hasn't worked in a few days and I've had a bad headache so I can't concentrate enough to update but heres a nice picture for you for the time being.. PROOF that bria came !! we had a blast. I guess I'll make a quick list of things I've done since I haven't blogged
- wednesday- class all day, bria arrived, went to accounting class drunk, was hungover in PR and spanish, came home then went out for more drinks with girls in my spanish class to celebrate the last day of classes then slept at the retiro residence in the crack of steph and lizzy's bed.
-thursday- probably should have studied, but woke up explored a good portion of the city with Bria. Watched glee. napped, went out for 90's night at joy.
-friday- got 3 hours of sleep, woke up took my accounting final, came home watched glee again and napped. Woke up went out for mexican with bria & nery. came back. got way too drunk off of a bottle of gin. Went to the "Calvin Harris" concert (don't ask me who that is i have no clue) came home woke up in Kristen's bed with no recollection of how I got there.
-Saturday, woke up, was hungover all day. Went shopping. Took a nap. went out for chinese food. Came back hung out, went to bed.
-Sunday- woke up at the asscrack of dawn, went to the rastro and bought an obnoxious amount of things, came back dropped bria off, took a nap, hung out with kristen and john and got italian food, went to a bull fight, hung out in my room, ate dinner, hung out with marcos, now i'm just laying in my bed.
so there you go theres a little play by play without too much info.

A list for fun.
A list of things I never want to see or eat again when I return to the United States
- JAMON (ham).. goes without saying, i've blogged about it enough, it's all they eat here.
- Large jars of olive oil on anything.
- fried food
- peanut butter- let me explain this one. I know I was bitching and moaning about how bad I wanted peanutbutter when i first got here, i lasted a while without it then my mother brought me 4 jars and I ate them within less than a 2 month period, that's not okay. not at all. What was I thinking? I over did it clearly. I never want to see peanut butter again at this point. Especially because basically all I have eaten the past 4 months is the follow..
- ham
- french fries
- peanutbutter
- oil
- bread
- chocolate
- raisins
- apples, pears, bananas & oranges (on rare occasions)
- yogurt
- mystery meat
- fish that tastes like its been swimming in a gutter
- gelato
- tea
- coffee
- croissants
- more bread
- pasta
- gross deli meat
- rice
- salad with chunks of tuna or egg in it and HUGE onions
- random soups with weird shit in it
- So yeah that's about it, I've literally only things I have eaten are above. So add all that to the list of things i never want to see agian
- I also never want to see a dead pig hanging in a window, or fish heads and guts of animals when I am at the supermarket ever again. I am all set thank you very much.
I'm looking forward to seeing and using ice cubes when I return as well because apparently all spanish people like their drinks room temperature, gag me. I love my water ice cold and I have not had that in months!
17 days people 17 days.
So, I really just want to come home at this point. I've been sick for a week straight, cannot eat anything and what I can eat is so bland and boring that it just makes me want to throw myself off a 90 story building. I actually thought I was better yesterday since I went to school and made it through the day for the most part but then I got home last night and haven't felt good since. My stomache is in excruciating pain, usually when I am sit I shower myself in treats such as chocolate and icecream but clearly I cannot do that because this time it is a stomache ailment so I officially have no outlet of happiness. I can't even describe to you how many movies I have watched since last week it's just retarded. Thank god the spaniards are gone and the internet is working! I only have about 5 days left of this happiness so I need to milk it for all it's worth. We have a long weekend this week and seeing as I cannot drink and that's all these people do around here I have no clue what I am going to do, I have cabin fever from spending so much time in baradas and If i have to eat any more soggy white rice and apples I might murder someone. But on the bright side, the cleaning lady changes our sheets yesterday for the first time in a month and a half. I am thrilled about this. My bed was so gross and crusty I was going to refuse to sleep in it anymore and just stay up all night sitting on my chair staring at the ceiling. But yeah, this has been my life for the past week. Absolute boredum. I could be doing all the homework I have or studying for my finals which I have in a week and a half but that would make too much sense and nothing makes sense in spain so it would be rude for me to go against the norm wouldn't it? I mean i'm pretty much a rule breaker all around with my big boobs and sandals so I might as well follow one thing that they do...

being sick is the worst thing that could ever happen to you when you are in a foreign country
I have been sick since tuesday afternoon and officially want to go play in traffic. I can't do anything, I can't concentrate on anything so it's not like I can even be productive in the area of school which I for sure know that I need to be. I've been in bed since wednesday and the only reason I have even left baradas at all was to go get aquarius(gatorade) which led to a little retail therapy which resulted in me back in bed. I miss america so much it's not even funny. 20 days. This is literally the hardest part. I know that I am so close, it's just such a tease. It's also killing me because the only thing I can eat is bread. seriously? UGH

Santander
This weekend we went on our all paid for school trip to Santander (it's in the northern part of Spain). It was about 30 kids and we had an absolute blast. We stayed in a beautiful hotel right on the beach. We were all so excited to stay at a hotel after staying in hostels for the past 3 months, everyone went nuts over the showers. I probably stayed in the shower for a half hour one day. We got pizza hut and hung out on the beach when we first got there then later that night we went out for the weirdest dinner i've ever had in my life which consisted of very weird tapas and my "vegetarian" option which OF COURSE had ham in it... Why wouldn't it? Anyways..... The next day Lizzy, Steph, Shannon & I went on a tour of a couple of towns. We saw a museum of sex objects carved into walls and into stones??? A torture museum, A church, a house that Gaudi crafted and a few beaches. Later on we got drinks and went to the casino.
The next day I slept through breakfast, we checked out of the hotel at 12 then headed to a different village where we had lunch and about 8 bottles of wine before we hiked up a mountain to go tour some cave. It was pretty cool. We then made our way back to Madrid which took FOREVER. because for some odd reason they insist of taking 45 minute breaks every 2 and a half hours because the bus driver needs a "break".. COOL SPAIN. So we didn't get home til like 12:30 I have been exhausted all day after my 12 hours of class. It's been a long day and I have lots of work to do this week. But I will be in Madrid this weekend for the first time in Month which is kind of weird, but I'm excited to hang out.

Positive Mindset
Okay so I know that I have been very negative lately via my blog and I have been kind of lashing out at a lot of people (sorry you know i love you!) so I decided that I need to express myself in a more positive manner because I actually am really have a great time and studying abroad is probably the best thing that ever happened to me and hands down the greatest experience of my life thus far. It's just the little things that are starting to really bother me because lets face it it's friggin HARD to be away from a life you've been used to for 19 years. It's like I got on a plane with two suitcases, a backpack and a pillow and landed in a different country where NOTHING is like what I am used to. But it's okay I really needed this. Being here has made me realize so much about myself and about life. I now know what is important to me.
Literally the one thing that is putting a damper on my experience abroad is my living situation, as you all know I live in a 2 by 4 box and sleep toe to toe with Andria, get treated like shit by the lunch/cleaning ladies and barely take a warm shower. Instead of being negative I am going to make a list of positive things I have gotten out of this experience.
1. Meeting Kristen- Kristen is our next door neighbor, she is from Miami and is studying abroad here as well but at a different school. If we didn't live here we would have never met her. I literally love this girl so much. She's helped me get through a lot here, she's a great friend and she's fun. Since all the girls at Suffolk Madrid suck I am so thankful I met her.
2. I can say that I have lived in a building with people from ALL around the world. There are kids who live here from all around spain and different parts of europe as well as other study abroad students from the US. I think that's pretty cool. All of the other kids who go to Suffolk Madrid and other kids I know from home who are studying abroad live mostly with kids from their program who are from the US.
3. Tommy- So we met all the boys we usually hang out with in Sevilla and hang out with them all the time bla bla bla. but Tommy is the only one of the three who lives with us. If we didn't live together we definitely wouldn't be as close to him as we are. Although he makes fun of me and we bicker a lot I'm glad we got to be such good friends. He is one of the only people we won't see all the time when we go back to Suffolk Boston( He is from california). It makes me upset that he won't be around but we can always visit.
4. Okay so Andria & I have lived together for 2 years now, but we always had a big enough room where we really weren't in eachothers face 24/7 and we always did our own thing. Being here we literally have done EVERYTHING together and have been together basically 24/7. If you can survive in a room that small and be with someone so much and not kill eachother, that's true friendship right there. I know that we both get on eachothers nerves sometimes because we literally have no alone time (from anyone that is) but I know that at the end of the day our friendship is so much stronger because of this. We've basically been through hell and back together at this point with all the shit we've had to deal with the past 3 months.
(PS forgot to mention that last week on the way to Ibiza I left my passport at Baradas and Kristen had to bring it to the airport (which is 40 minutes away) so that I could get on my flight, see true friendship)
5. We can barely get on the internet but it forces us to all hang out and do stuff together.
6.Getting to know Pete, Joe, Nery, Edvina, Bree and Joe Talluto. These are kids from Suffolk Boston who we either met here or have gotten to know better since being here. It's nice because we're all very differently and probably wouldn't even have crossed paths if we were back in Boston.
7. Appreciation. Overall Baradas just makes me appreciate my living situation at home and makes me realize that I can literally live in a box and survive.
I'm going to try really hard for the next month to just relax and enjoy Madrid. This weekend we are going to Santander, which is in the northern part of Spain. It's a school trip so everything is paid for which is a fantastic feeling because I have been going through money like water. After this weekend I have no more trips planned so I will be spending 3 weekends in Madrid then I am coming home. It's crazy how fast this semester flew by. I literally feel like I just got here. I also think it's funny how I was totally fine for 2 and a half months then all of a sudden I started getting severe culture shock. Today, Andria & I were reading the sheet of paper that SUMC gave us at the beginning of the semester about the stages of culture shock... we're both in the "agressive" stage right now...hahhaa oh well.

Song of the day..
Fun Fact: I cannot listen to one Bruce Springsteen song or Hootie and the Blowfish song without getting tears in my eyes. Cannot wait to see my family, even JULIANNA!
Things I don't understand about Madrid
After spending a lovely weekend away from Madrid and basking in the sun in Ibiza I decided that since it is about 70 degrees out today that I was going to wear Sandals. Sounds normal right? Well not to these friggin people. Apparently it is like a cardinal sin to show your feet in this culture so people have been staring at me all day with the most discusted looks on their faces. Picture this: me walking around in flower sandals, a tie die tank-top, obnxious fake ray bands with flowers on them, and a canadian jumpsuit (jeans and a jean jacket). If you saw the looks I have been getting today you would think that I was walking around topless and had bright pink hair, but oh wait thats probably more acceptable here than god damn flip flops. I just don't get it. It's like the top three things that people shun the most in this country are 1. flipflops, 2. eating and 3.girls going to the gym. first of all I AM GOING TO WEAR FLIPFLOPS do you want my feet to sweat all day and in result have my entire body be overheated and I die? okay no you don't so DEAL WITH IT. 2 & 3. Eating & working- oh what sorry I don't go throw up after every friggin like the girls in your country do. I know you think it's not normal for a girl to eat but if I am going to eat i am going to workout/run so you can stop staring when I jog around the park 5 times. and while your at it you can stop caring that my boobs are so big because apparently europe just cannot deal with busty woman. It's not my fault your stupid food makes me fat and makes my already obxniously large boobs get even bigger than anyone would ever want them to. Also sorry that I'm 5'0 and all the godamn girls here are tall and are just about as skinny as my legs. I would also feel more like a human in your stupid food wasn't dosed in 5 bottles of oil and we didn't eat at 10 oclock at night.
I don't even remember what it's like to eat breakfast forget about eating dinner at a normal time like 530 everyones too busy taking friggin siestas.
okay sorry for venting i am just very frustrated. 32 days. I am gunna make it.

Getting closer....
Song of the day!
Not only is home getting closer but so is BASEBALL SEASON! Add casually strolling/driving by Fenway to the list of things I miss from home.

Dear mommy.
I am back to being obsessed with Summer Heights High (flash back to senior year of highschool), and I wanted to share this with my mother because clearly I do shit like this all the time.

Nothing like a little trip to Paris to kick homesickness to the curb
We had an awesome weekend in Paris. I absolutely love the city. After having some problems with booking basically a fake hostel we found a hotel to stay in and Andria, Steph, Lizzy & I took on the town. We hung out and drank wine by the Eiffel Tower, wandered all around got lost more times than we probably should have but overall we had an awesome time. The weather was way better than I expected and the food was DELICIOUS! Nutella & banana crepes, Nutella pancakes, Tortellini & sauce, gelato and lots of wine. We went and saw Moulin Rouge, the big cool arch, Notre Dame (where quazimotto lives, obvi, (((he must have a mean dad))) ). On saturday we climbed to the top of the Eiffel tower which had a beautiful view.
We just got back to Madrid, I am very anxious right now and struggling to concentrate, i can barely even write this. I don't want to do my homework!! AHH! oh well. On the bright side I'm not feeling as homesick as I was before!

Yet another song that's getting me through tough days
We are heading to Paris for the weekend! I'm really excited cannot wait to see the Eiffel Tower.
Assortment of Songs...
Okay, so after a long and stressful day Tommy and I decided to go out for drinks last night. We wandered around for a while trying to find a bar we wanted to go to, aimlessly walked and ended up in some random area and decided to go to this little random bar. But that's not the point of the story. As soon as we walk in the door we order a drink and Tommy heads to the bathroom. While I am sitting there alone I start watching the TV they have which is on VH1. (Now back in the states as we all know VH1 and MTV are just full of dirty songs and raunchy music videos, but in Spain it's a little different. Granted they show boobs on tv and leave very inapropriate songs unedited on the radio, Vh1 in Spain kicked ass last night.)All of a sudden Miami by Will Smith comes on and I nearly die inside because the boys are always joking about how great Will Smith is and singing it. When would you ever hear Miami at a bar in the states? Let alone seriously played on the television... As soon as Tommy walks out of the bathroom his jaw drops and calls Max out of excitement, which I had already texted him. Oh Spain. Anyways... here is another assortment of songs that came on during the course of the night that I thought I'd share.
what if god was one of us.
you cannot tell me you wouldn't be excited if you heard this at a bar. I nearly died of excitement when it first came on, especially because Stephanie and I always sing this at random point and times back at home. -
Vh1 Spain- 1 US- 0
Will Smith- Miami. No further explanation needed. Just know that if any more Suffolk Madrid students were at this place it would have been game over.
Vh1 Spain- 2 US-0
Girls just want to have fun.
I was very confused by this when it first came on seeing as obviously I've heard this song more than a million times but I have never seen the video. Thank you VH1 Spain, you earn none more point.
Vh1 Spain-3 US-0
And those are just some of the few of the many throwbacks that we caught last night at this little random bar that if you paid me I probably couldn't tell you where it was or how to get there.

home sick
feeling a little homesick this week. Still don't know when to book my flight home for. I am so torn. Do I stay for a few extra days or should I just go home and fly with Andria so I don't fly alone? So confusing.
Only had one day of school this week, not bad. Been watching an obscene amount of Gossip Girl and I have acutally been making an effort to work out. It's been gorgeous out here. The weather is in the high 60's and I'm enjoying it.
Today we walked around Retiro and got Lunch with Matt. Tomorrow we're gunna wake up early go to the park and work out for 3 hours then shop til we drop.
I've lost all desire to drink or go out, which is kind of annoying when that is all people want to do around here. But I don't mind staying in and relaxing. I am still sick. don't know how, but oh well. Nothing I can control.

Little Recap of Spring Break
After our adventures in Rome we made our way to Florence where we stayed with Bria which was awesome. We were so burnt out from site seeing in Rome that we literally walked around and ate gelato for 3 days straight. While we were in Florence I got to see a bunch of people from Waltham which was sweet. Bria's boyfriend James was there and we also met up with Jen Gulotti and Tori which was wicked fun. It was so nice to see familiar faces from home I wish I got to spend more time with them!
After going out for dinner and drinks with the girls on our last night Andria & I met up with the boys and took a 4:30am train to Venice. We all sprawled out across the train and tried to sleep, I only slept for 20 minutes and I was off the walls...
Venice was absolutely gorgeous. We had an awesome time walking around looking at all the carnivale masks and enjoying the view of the canal. The hostel we stayed in was nice which was a plus because the one we stayed in Rome was absolutely disgusting. On friday night we had a nice little family dinner right out by the River and it was absolutely delish. The boys went out but Andria and I ended up going to bed early.
This whole time on spring break Andria & I didn't really go out we were always tired and I of course was sick and still am.
After Venice we made our way to Milan on the train which took about 3 and a half hours. We stayed with Tommy's friend from school who was very nice and we all just relaxed and hung out. Yesterday we went out for lunch and everyone each ate an entire pizza to themselves... might as well stuff our faces in Italy before we go back to Madrid and have shitty food for the next 2 months.
Last night we all laid around our hostel watching movies. Today is our last day and our flight is at 9:30pm. Don't know what we're going to do til then since it's gross out again. We lucked out on the weather everyday except the last 2 days in Milan which is fine with me.
I can't wait to get back to Baradas.

When in Rome!
After neglectingly leaving my Mother and the Ritz at 630am on friday Andria and I made our way to the airport to head to Rome to meet the boys. The flight was a quick two hours and we landed in Rome realizing that we know absolutely no Italian... Somehow we managed to get our bags and find this random bus that cost 4 euros to get to the center of Rome (or so we hoped) to get where we were staying.
We finally made it in the rainy weather to the hostel all by ourselves, very proud of us. We booked a room , settled in and headed out to start site seeing. We saw a bunch of cool different stuff and roamed for a while near the colleseum but decided to go back around 6 because it was rainy and we were tired and wanted to go to bed to rest up for a long day of walking we had ahead on sunday.
Sunday was a beautiful day and we roamed around seeing literally everything. All the statues, plazas, the colluseum, the trevi fountain and a bunch of other cool things. Later on in the day we finally got internet to get in contact with our friend from school Gina to meet up with her. We were wicked excited and spent time catching up and getting a nice italian dinner.
Today we went to the vatican & sistene chapel. Both were amazing. At the vatican I went to Confession which I think is awesome to say that I got to do in my life. We also climbed all the way to the top and saw an amazing view of all of Rome.
Tonight we're staying with Gina and meeting up with another boy we know from home from Suffolk. We've been having an awesome time and eating lots of gelato which is SOOOOOOOOOOO Good. I can't even describe.
Tomorrow we're off to Florence via Train! and I can't wait to see my friends from home there.

Last night of Royalty
Enjoying our SECOND bottle of complimentary champagne in the luxurious Ritz, where Rose, Andria & I look like street rats compared to the people who can actually afford to stay here.
A nice little picture for you, not my unpolished face & classy Bruins Seguin T-shirt.

Feels just like home, Rose in the background watching Zoolander asking a million questions, gasping and commenting on everything in the movie.
OFF TO ITALIA TOMORROW BRIGHT AND EARLY! Fake life at it's finest, Miss you DADDY<3
A little dose of Rose is Espana
As most of you know, my mother came to visit me this week. She has been here since last Sunday and it's been quite the adventure. After a long weekend of throwing up and climbing el cotos, I woke up on sunday morning around 6:30 to pick her up at the airport. I was so excited to for her to get here. As soon as she got here we got in a Cab and she immediately started speaking English to the cab driver, if you have been reading my blog you know NO ONE HERE SPEAKS FRIGGIN ENGLISH. the guy just looked at her like she was nuts and kept driving, she has proceeded to speak english to everyone here insisting that "they need to learn someday anyways" so of course she is going to be the one to teach them... dear lord.
This week has been amazing we have been wined and dined in 5 star fancy hotels like The Westin Palace, The Princesa Sofia in Barcelona, and now we are in the Ritz. You wanna talk about Fake Life? This is it. I don't know what I am going to do when she leaves, How do you go from taking baths, sleeping in huge begs, being waited on hand and foot, eating real people food, back to BARADAS aka my Cinderella closet. I might die. Good thing I am going to Italy for 10 days tomorrow.....
ANYWAYS.
I'll do a little play by play of what we did when my mom was here.
Sunday: Get here- Drop bags off at Baradas, go right to El Rastro (biggest flea market in Europe), get lunch, pack up head to the Westin, DIE at how gorgeous the Westin is workout at their awesome place, have 3 course gourmet meal at the Westin, #fakelife.
Monday: Wake up, go workout, eat a REAL breakfast not 2 small bowls of dry corn flakes and a gross cup of coffee like I usually do, go to school take 2 midterms, skip my last two classes, go back to the hotel and hang out then get thai food for dinner (hahah we're in Spain right?).
Tuesday: Fly to Barcelona, go to sagrada familia and las ramblas, get a free massage, sick in a jacuzzi, hang out in the steam room and sauna, hang out in the "club lounge", go to bed.
Wednesday: fly back to Madrid, check in to the Ritz, workout, go out drinking in a Cave bar with my mother and my Spain family.
Thursday: Fancy breakfast, again. Shop. Sight See. go back to eat THAI food again, pop a bottle of complimentary Champagne with Andria & Rose.
Friday: Wake up have a nice breakfast, shop again and lounge around.
....how am I suppose to enjoy myself in Spain after my mother leaves? I've been spoiled rotten with good food, an unbelievably beautiful hotel, clothes & shoes, a new camera, HOT WATER to shower in... ughhhh.. anyways I'm so glad my mother came I was starting to go a little nuts and I think this will keep me grounded until May. She leaves tomorrow and I leave for my 10 day tour de Italia which is pretty awesome. I have a 16 day spring break and I never want to go back to school.. I pretty much am traveling for the rest of the time in Spain, Paris, Ibiza, Santander, probably Amsterdam and the Canary Islands at some point too..
ta ta for now!

yay yay yay
This week has been very very very busy. I was wicked sick beginning on sunday night until about thursday but I am feeling better now. School this week was busy, had 2 midterms on wednesday, PR and Spanish.
My spanish midterm was RIDICULES, we had literally an hour and 15 minutes to finish 12 pages of grammar, vocab, reading comp & essay writing..all in spanish.. MISERABLE. My PR midterm wasn't too bad.
In bio this week we went to "Faunia" which is the zoo here in Madrid, it was really cool they had a lot of cute animals (did i really just say animals were cute?..someone feel my head) like penguins and lemurs, etc. All I kept thinking about was how Lemurs don't have to go to college or work all they have to do is eat and play all day. Why can't I be a lemur???
The weather has been absolutely gorgeous here, on thursday I went walking with my Spanish friend Marcos who showed me a bunch of different cool places all over Madrid that I hadn't seen before. Then thursday night I went out with Nery and some friends who live over at the other residencia near Retiro Park. We went to this club joy. It was fun, I literally died. I am no longer allowed to drink hard alcohol. When I was waiting in line to get into the club I was talking to this boy who said he was from Boston, turns out he is from Weston and is NEIGHBORS with one of my friends who lives there... What a small world.
Anyways.. After thursday I spent my entire friday puking my brains out until about 430pm when I finally got up and decided to go to Starbucks to get a little work done. That failed miserably because I literally just sat there drinking my tea staring at my computer because I could not think straight.
Today I woke up early and went hiking in el cotos with some kids from school. It was really fun and beautiful, only problem was there was so much snow and we were all hiking in sneakers...not the brightest bunch... I had fun though. Since I got home I have been trying to study for my acct midterm which I am so nervous for. I also have a bio midterm but I haven't even looked at the stuff yet. Hopefully I do well.
Mommy arrives tomorrow! I am so excited its not even funny!!! Can't wait to get out of baradas and into some 5 star hotels please!! This week we are going to barcelona, tuesday to wednesday then exploring madrid on thursday and friday then I leave for Italy for 10 days on saturday. I CANNOT WAIT. i can;t believe I have a 16 day spring break. #fakelife.
I'm really tired but I am trying to force myself to study. I don't even care. UghHHHHHHHH

Granada
The past week has been pretty low key around here, just been going to school, dance class & hanging around Baradas. I really wanted to get out of Madrid for the weekend so we got a few people together and took the bus to Granada.
It was a really fun weekend, we stayed in a hostel right across the street from the Alhambra which was a pretty cool location because it was less than a 15 minute walk to the center of the town where everything else was. Our hostel situation was pretty funny, it was Kay, Kristen, Max, Tommy and a new friend from school Raul all in this little room with a set of bunk beds, 2 smaller beds and one full size bed. It was funny but we made it work.
On the first day of our weekend adventure we explored downtown. I went into a bunch of different little shops that had lots of different arab trinkets and stuff like that. I got a cute pair of earrings. Later on we got boxes of wine and drank on the streets then went to a hookah bar.
Yesterday we did a lot of exploring, we went up to the gypsy caves, but they were closed. The main attraction was obviously the Alhambra which was absolutely gorgeous. The best part of the weekend though was the picture we took at the Alhambra. They had this little store that was taking professional dress up pictures like the ones they have in the US where you dress up like old fashion cowboys and indians, but here you dress up like arabs.... I have never laughed so hard in my entire life.
Last night I was not feeling too good I know I am getting sick , no bueno. but we went out for dinner and went to another hookah bar then went to bed so we could wake up for our 8am wakeup call to truck back to Madrid.
This week is the beginning of Mid terms, I am absolutely dreading this. I can't get myself to do any work or concentrate on studying. Oh welll...
On tuesday Andria & I are going to the Mike Posner concert! that's something to look forward too besides the midterms I have on wednesday.
Mommy's coming this weekend! I am so excited. I can't wait to see her and finally get out of Baradas for a week. My back has been killing me from the beds, they are absolutely horrendous, I can't fall asleep at night because I am in so much pain.
I am extremely tired right now so instead of studying or doing homework I'm going to take a nap or go to bed.

well well well
the rest of the weekend was pretty unproductive, I lazily laid around baradas on saturday and sunday.
Saturday night we went to BOOM this club that our friend was djing at, everyone from Suffolk was there, it was a fun night.
We booked our spring break! we are officially going to Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan. I am super excited and cannot wait.
I also can't wait for my mommy to get here next weekend! I'm starting to feel a little America sick, but I am just convinced that it's from a chemical imbalance that I am having because I haven't been able to go to the gym.
Today I'm gunna go to CEU and try to work out after the dance class, let's see how that goes.
Not much to say today, just feeling a little down.

I live in Madrid, I go to school 2x a week in a box, I live in a room the size of a janitors close & sleep toe to toe w/ my best friend in a building with randos who barely speak english, I drink 50 cent boxes of wine, I don't go to the gym, I eat too much chocolate & not enough real food, I'm addicted to caffeine & I stay up way too late, I don't text all day and I rarely take a warm shower- & I like it
It's been a pretty busy week with school around here. I have a lot of stuff due monday and I'm not really sure why because I feel like I haven't learned anything. This week I have actually been pretty productive, not sleeping the day away and getting up at a normal hour and getting stuff done. The other day when we didn't have school Andria & I woke up at 10, worked out and stayed on a schedule throughout the whole day. Pretty impressive if you ask me. I feel like I haven't had structure in my life the past month. Wednesday was a full day of school again but yesterday we had the day off and I felt free productive.
I woke up around 10, worked out then Tommy & I walked to meet Ryan and Max to take a dance class at CEU (another university here). It was very fun, we learned the cha cha, swing, and another one I forget. We're going to take the class every tuesday and thursday then go out dancing eventually.Soo that's exciting!
Last night we went to a very popular SEVEN FLOOR club called Kapital. It was wild. There are 7 balcony floors that open up to a gianormous dance floor that blows down cold air every 10 minutes or so that coools down the dance floor because there are so many people. They also have dancers on this huge stage and on the balconies overlooking the floor as well. Although everyone basically died because we dipped into the hard alcohol for the pregame for the first time in a month (bad idea). I held my own and stayed out and danced the night away with Ryan and Joe.
Today I need to do some more work and relax.
Happy 1 month in Spain to me.

Monday Morning Epiphanies
So as I have been obnoxiously blogging about, I have class ALL DAY on mondays from 10:45-9pm, but luckily for me my 3 and a half hour bio lab was cancelled so I got to walk home to get lunch and take a nap (amen to that, whoever thought it was a good idea to stay out til 4am watching the Super Bowl should be smacked, aka me) On my walk home I started thinking about so many things. Since I've been here it has brought many different things to my attention that I thought about before but never really acted on.
Before I left for Madrid I was skeptical, exciting, scared, and a little freaked out about leaving. I had so many mixed emotions I couldn't even control myself. I had never been away from my family for a long period of time, granted I do live at school at home but it is literally 15 minutes away, I am constantly talking to my mother and my father's in the city basically once a week for work and stops by and says hi. So this is really my first time alone. It's funny because I feel a lot better off than I thought I was going to be. Being here makes me appreciate my family and realize that I can go far away and do something that really makes me happy and that they will be there when I get back.
The more I think about it I honestly have not been as happy of a person as I can be back in Boston, yes I love school and I love my friends but I feel like there is so much more to life than what I have been doing. There is so much I want to see and experience in the world and I feel the NEED to do it. I know I am only 19 years old but when I look get older and look back on being young I want to have something to show for it not just going to college, staying local and getting a job. I have this itch to see everything and go everywhere or move and meet tons of new people. I kind of lost myself over the past year and a half, didn't really have a hobby, would just go to work, school, the gym and do things that I didn't even want to do just because I thought I had to. I don't want to be like that anymore, and I'm starting to realize that I do have control over my own life and I can do whatever I want. When I get home if I want to go abroad again next year, yeah I'm going to do it despite what anyone else says. I also feel that at home no one really knows or understands me but that is half my own fault because I don't like to open up or put myself out there. There are just so many things that have been running through my mind and it's hard for me to express them.
I think it's funny because I am literally not homesick at all. I kind of miss "normalcy" and of course I miss my friends and family but luckily for Skype and Facebook and all this other technological crap it's like they are here with me anyways. - It's also such a nice life without constantly being in contact with people, yes I do miss my blackberry because it's just easier to have it with me to find things and be in contact with people but honestly it's amazing to see how much you learn to appreciate people you spend time with when they are not preoccupied with something else. I wish it was like that at home, it just makes for a better quality of life.
For example, the people I have met here I have already had better conversations and heard more stories than any of the people I have met at home.
I am really enjoying myself, letting myself think freely and not worry half as much as I usually do.
Another funny thing I realized is that I am literally exactly like my mother, all the things that she does that we constantly make fun of her for, I DO. My friends tease me about being over cautious and like a "nana" all the time but it's just something I cannot help. Rose pond that quality off on me. It's just the way I am.
These are just a bunch of things I was thinking about this morning, trying to a better quality "richer" life.
I don't want to go back to class today but I don't really have a choice, I have class again from 4-9 (brutal)..

Success: The Fam Relocates to Portugal
We officially made our first moves as world travelers this weekend at friday morning at 5:30 am after going out the night before (bright idea gab), we made our way to the airpot for our 7:30 am flight. The flight to Lisbon was very quick and I slept the entire time, that is the whole 1 hour and 10 minutes..
When we arrived in Portugal we walked around until we found a cheap hostel to stay in. We found one right near Rossio square for 10 euro a night. The hostel was not THAT bad but it was absolutely FREEZING, but we sucked it up and made it through the next two nights.
We did a lot of exploring, eating, and shopping while we were there the first day. We sat by the water that was beautiful and relaxing as well. I thought Madrid had a lot of statues and fountains but there was literally one on every block in Lisbon.
The night life is totally different there as well. Us newly born Spaniard used to eating wicked late decided to go out to dinner around 9:30, and there was literally no one eating. We were so confused but we picked a place outside got some food and crushed 4 bottles of wine between 5 of us. Apparently in Portugal everyone eats from 7-9, it's funny how even though the countries are so close the cultures are so different. Also, the people in Lisbon all drink out on the streets in the "barrio alta" starting earlier than we're used to as well. In Madrid we don't go out til about 1:30, thats not how it works there though!
Saturday we got lunch and did a bus tour on a double decker bus, it was really nice and we got to see a lot of the city. We got dinner later on and it was delicious I got salmon, it melted in your mouth. So yummy. It was nice to eat some real people food and not crap from Baradas All weekend. Lisbon is beautiful, I loved it and would definitely go back.
I really love being here now. I am very happy and I'm so glad I came. My only complaint is that I have to stop breaking things and tripping. Idno where all this bad luck is coming! Say a prayer for me people!

Monday
Yesterday was the longest day of my life. I had class straight through from 10:45-9pm. I literally had biology class from 10:45-3:30 sitting in the most uncomfortable chair in the entire world talking about animals and trees. Not fun. But anyways to make it through my days I have been relying heavily on coffee and this "crack shot" at school which consists of some sort of espresso and chocolate, but it literally is like crack. All the coffee usually doesn't even help me stay awake in class but of course it kicks in as soon as I get home at 9:30 at night. Thank god for melatonin or I would NEVER sleep.
Today has been a lazy day I woke up around 12, went for a walk with Tommy to the bank then ran and exercised for a bout an hour, then proceeded to ruin that by going to the store and getting 3 bars of toblerone and 2 huge bags of cookies covered in chocolate. woops. All i do is eat chocolate here it's ridiculous. I miss fruit and oatmeal and nuts. Not to mention the gym. I need the gym.
We are going to lisbon this weekend. Should be exciting. I am all over the place writing this. I can't think straight.

Weekend
This weekend we decided to stay in Madrid. On thursday night we had our first club experience in Madrid, and it was NUTS. these people know how to party. Somehow before we even went out there was a party in our room with a bunch of the residence in Baradas. It was really fun, some kid was doing magic tricks and everyone was hanging out and having a good time. After we went to this club "Fun" with everyone and ended up waiting in line forever before we got in. These stupid girls from Baradas pulled us our of line because they said they could get us in faster, which they could not because they are stupid girls, so me and andria and this other girl liz decided to go home because we were so mad. As soon as we got back to the residence Ryan called us and somehow got us to get out of bed and come back to the club, so we get dressed again and go back to the club at 3am, only in Madrid. It was wicked fun we danced the entire time and everyone was ridiculous.
The next day Tommy, kristen, Liz and I decided to go venturing around. We ended up going to this palace that was gorgeous and really cool. We also went out for Churros and chocolate where I proceeded to drink an entire mug of chocolate. I'm not talking hot chocolate, I'm talking CHOCOLATE. it was SOOO goood.
Later on that night we went to Chester another club which wasn't as good as the night before but it was still fun. EXCEPT the fact that someone stole my camera, which I am very upset about.
Yesterday, we hung around went out for coffee during the day then we had a nice little family dinner at some restaurant in Sol. It was yummy, we ate outside by the heat lamps and enjoyed the night life of Sol as people walked by. We didn't do much last night besides hang around then go to Ryan's to hang out for a while as well. Overall it was a pretty good weekend. I have class all day tomorrow but it's basically like a friday because I don't have class on tuesday. I am really enjoying Spain and I do really like it.
We are going to Lisbon next weekend! and we have a lot more planning to do in terms of trips.
Miss my family though<3

Wednesday -
Yesterday was a long day of class. 10:45-9. I am so tired all the time it's not even funny. Coffee makes me feel like I am on crack and barely helps me stay awake during the day. All it does is keep me up at night. After class yesterday I came back to baradas had some dinner then starting pregaming in our room with Tommy, Kristen and our two friends from belgium. After hanging out for a while we made our way to Dubliners in Sol an Irish pub where we met up with Steph C and all of her room mates. We had a fun night and I ended up staying up til 730am. Don't know how. Don't know why. but it happened.
Today I've done nothing basically, a little homework, a little p90x and a lot of staring at the wall.
I am hungry. What else is new? Not much to say right now. Will update with stories later.

Tuesday
Yesterday was another low key day. I woke up around 1030 then hung around baradas until about 3 when Tommy, Peter and I decided to venture out and do some exploring. We discovered this cool area a few blocks away from our residence with a bunch of different stores and bars which was pretty cool. Later on Tommy and I walked to this little park and hung out there creepily watching this old man blow big bubbles for little spanish asian children. We hung out drank wine and ate crackers for the rest of the night.
I just got to school and I have class from 1045 til 9pm with a 3 hour break in the middle. It´s going to be a long day but at 9pm my weekend begins. It´s so weird only having classes two days a week. Everyday feels like the weekend here.
Since I´ve been here I have been addicted to chocolate. It´s literally a problem. that´s all i want to eat. I´d rather eat chocolate than regular food. Maybe it´s because it´s the only thing that acutally tastes the same as it does at home? Who knows.

Venting..Sorry.
None of my effing clothes fit me right now. My pants are so baggy it's not even funny. All my hard work to get what I like to call a "bum" the past few years are completely down the drain. My jeans are so big I look like a 12 year old, butch girl who is trying to dress like a boy. I don't understand why this is happening. I haven't even worked out. Even my leggings are falling off of me. Like I just don't get it. Why can't my boobs shrink instead? I liked my tight little bum. I'm gunna start squatting until I can't feel my legs once I muster up some energy.
I have no school tomorrow but I don't feel good so I refuse to leave the room. Andria and I are looking up flights and booking trips that we want to go on. We really really really wanna go visit Auschwitz. We both love World War II.
Also- Just thought I'd share that I am getting way to used to having a maid who cleans my room, fixes my bed, and does my laundry everyday. They don't do it on the weekends and I came home saturday and was literally pissed that my bed wasn't made. Who am I? God forbid I take two seconds out of my day to make my bed. I mean I do it EVERYDAY at home and at school. But here it's just out of the question. Might as well call me the Princess of Spain. I hope Rose knows what she's getting into when I get home for the Summer. I'm going to need her to clean my room and fix my bed.
The internet here sucks, I've been trying to put up my pictures since I got here but it REFUSES to load. SO ANNOYING.

Weekend
Overall this weekend was a success. On saturday we went to Toledo for the day where we walked around and enjoyed all the little shops, got lunch, and also went to a museum with a bunch of cool different things like armour, sword and stuff like that. Toledo was beautiful, quiet and a lot different than Madrid. After taking the bullet train back we came home rested then went out for the night with friends new and old.
Sunday morning I woke up and was not feeling so well, but Ryan and I made our way to El Rastro the largest flea market in all of Europe. There was a lot of different stuff and so many people. I'm pretty sure we didn't even get to see all of it. After a few hours I took the metro back where I proceeded to lay in bed all day. I went to bed around 10 after falling asleep watching The Sound Of Music and woke up this morning and made my way to class.
Classes today were okay although they dragged on. I had a coffee and I was off the walls. The coffee here is insanely strong, it makes me feel like I totally different person, but I need it because I feel so tired all the time. Today I walked back and fourth from school which takes 40 minutes. I was so hungry all day and there is honestly nothing here I want to snack on. It's so annoying. I also can't believe I haven't worked out. I need to tomorrow.
I want watermelon so bad. I can't even think straight I'm so hungry and irritable.

blehhhh
Yesterday was a more relaxed day, we slept/hung around until about 230 then Tommy and I ventured to go for a run down at the park by school. We ended up going by school for a while then finally running after an hour or so.
Later on in the night we went over to ryan's and had a few drinks then went to the bar across the street. Andria and I went home around 1am because we were both tired. I'm a little homesick right now and starting to miss America. I miss TV and all my shows. I can't watch anything on my laptop because the internets so slow. I've already watched The Town about 10 times, beauty and the beast 5, glee many times, and the lion king twice. I never realized how many shows I watch. At school I literally sit on my bed watching shows all the time. I cannot do that there. I might go crazy. Between that and not having my crackberry by my side I literally might go insane. I keep reaching to my phone to call my mother also, which clearly I cannot do. It's so irritating. I also miss BSC so much. I want to work out but I have no motivation in this dungeon room and I also feel like I am robbing a meal from myself by burning calories seeeing as we barely eat.
Today we went exploring down at the park Retiro. It is a gianormous place with lots of different things to see. One of the coolest things they have there is a statue of a falling angel that is the only statue in the world that represents the devil and hell. We walked around for a while then got a merienda at a cafe nearby. We also walked down Gran Via and went to NikeTown.
We've been hanging out in the room for a while now and I personally don't feel like doing anything tonight. Tomorrow we are taking the Bullet Train to Toledo for the day to do some more exploring.
I think things will start getting better once we are really into the swing of things, I just keep telling myself its still early and everything is going to change. life throws you curve balls. That's all I Know.

How I am a functioning human being is beyond me right now.
Yesterday was the first day of class, I ended up changing my schedule and switching out of spanish culture class and into a public relations class so now all my classes are on monday and wednesday, this could be a very a good thing or a very bad thing. My first class doesn't start til 10:45 but since Andria's class is at 8:30am and she is notorious for sleeping through many alarms I elected to wake up and workout to start my day. Around 10, Joe and I experimented walking to school which took roughly 40 minutes. I walked this route twice yesterday. It just makes me laugh because no one at home would EVER walk 40 minutes to school once a day forget about TWICE.
My first class of the day is BIO which I honestly was completely dreading because lets face it I am not a science girl and its environmental biology and I don't particularly care for animals. I had heard terrible things about the professor who was teaching the class and I was expecting the worst out of this course. But lucky for me something went my way. Apparently the professor who was suppose to be teaching the course is "sick" for the semester and now this younger guy who wants to have "fun" and convince us how great biology is by making the class more interesting is teaching the course. I nearly jumped out of my seat I was so excited. The professor seems really nice and he was pretty entertaining. I thought it was amusing how he would say "Jellow Stone" instead of Yellow Stone national park with his spanish accent.
After that class I ventured my way back for my 3 hour break to eat at the residence, then walked back a few hours later for accounting class. Accounting this semester is going to be brutal, I just know it. After accounting I have public relations which I think is going to be a very interesting class and I'm excited to take. Then finally from 7:30-9 I have spanish but it was cancelled due to a death in the family of my professor.
After dinner and getting ready we pregamed a little at residence with our 1.50euro bottles of wine then headed to "orange" this club down the street from where we live. It was free drinks from 11:30-12:30 so we stayed there for a while then ventured our way back to another bar across the street from where we live for mojitos. We are so random..After coming back to the room and chatting I finally went to bed at 5:30am, so what I would like to know is why am I wide awake at 9am? Why does spain not have food? Why hasn't the lady done my laundry yet? Why is this room a thousand degrees?
Today I have to figure a bunch of stuff out and go venture around. We'll probably go out again tonight since I heard wednesday and thursday are big days en Espana.

I don't even know what day it is.
Today we woke up and took the metro to school for a little more orientation stuff. We spent some time at the school and got our books for the semester which is pretty great because we don't have to pay for them and they are brand new. After that John, Andria & I made our way back to Baradas (our residence) for lunch which was good for once. We had this pasta, meat and this tomato sauce on top. It was pretty good, but then again anything we eat tastes good because we literally starve all day long.
After lunch John and I went back to school to go tour CEU University of San Pablo where we learned of all the cool things we can do there. They offer a lot of fun stuff, sports, exercise classes, cultural events, volunteering, wine tasting classes, dance class and a bunch of other stuff. We're planning on taking salsa classes and wine tasting. Later on after hanging out at Suffolk for a little Tommy and I thought it would be a good idea to figure out how to walk home from school. It took us a while but we finally figured it out. It should probably only be a half an hour walk when you know where you are going so I plan on walking to class and taking the metro home from now on.
When we got back to the dorm I went down and hung out in the little cafe/hang out area where lots of the other students who live in the building hang out. I started talking to a couple different European students practicing Spanish. I think living here is going to be a good experience. There are people from ALL AROUND THE WORLD living in this one building. I met a boy from Belgium, lots of people from Spain and who knows where else all the other people are from. I've been nervous to speak spanish a little because it is kind of intimidating when everyone speaks so fast but I think once school starts up again and I get back into the swing of things it will be easier for me to talk back.
I finally worked out today for the first time in like 8 days, and we all know that is rare for me. I can't believe I even lasted that long, but I feel a lot better now. I want to join a gym here but it is literally 270 euro for 4 months which is ridiculous. I might just have to stick with my p90x and body weight exercises.
I have a full day of classes tomorrow starting at 10:45 ending at 9pm. It's going to be a long day especially because I know that I won't be eating much but it will just take some getting used to. I can't wait to see who is in my classes and how the professors are here. It's going to be a real reality slap when homework starts piling up and the fact that I am here to study and not on vacation kicks in.
But ta ta for now. Sorry Boston has so much snow, I won't rub it in and tell you how nice out it always is here...

Back to Madrid
For our last night in Sevilla we went to a nice restaurant where we waited about 3 hours to eat. It was nice but the food could not even compare to the food we had for Lunch earlier. After dinner we went to a "texan" bar near the Cathedral to watch the pats. We called it a night early around 2 to go to bed.
Today, we treked back to Madrid. We had to walk from the Hotel to the Train station which was ridiculous because i had my 85lb luggage and a backpack. I was literally dying.
I finally unpacked today and the room is feeling a lot better than it was the first couple of days. I actually have clothes and belongings and more people moved into the building.
Tonight me and Tommy walked over to Ryan's apartment which is about a five minute walk from the dorm. That of course turned into quite the adventure. We walked all the way to apartment "21" which we thought he lived in, got buzzed in then walked around a dark apartment building come to find out it wasn't Ryan's apartment. Woops.
So it's been a relaxing day, we have a little more orientation tomorrow and classes start on wednesday.

Happiness!
Good news! Things have changed for the better. Saturday was such a great day. We woke up early around 930, ate breakfast and headed to Italica where the Roman Ruins are. It was pretty cool to see the ruins and arena. Although Andria and I complained most of the time because A. we hate tours and B. I was still upset because my luggage had still not arrived, we sucked it up and walked around. After Italica we got back on the bus and drove to a Horse farm which sounds pretty weird but it was actually awesome. As soon as we got off the bus we were greeted with drinks and flamenco dancing and singing. There were horses and tapas and everyone was enjoying themselves. After trying shark, which was pretty delicious we sat down for a horse show. It was wild. The horses could dance, cross their feet, and do all this other cool stuff. After the show we had a nice lunch then headed back to the hotel to get ready for the night because we were going to see a Flamenco show.
Over the past two days we have met some pretty great people. Everyone’s really having a good time, laughing and looking forward to the rest of the semester. We’ve mostly been hanging out with Ryan, Max and these two boys from California that we met, John & Tommy. They remind me a lot of the boys from home, pure entertainment never a dull moment. We probably are having too much fun for people who just met each other a couple days ago. But Hey- whatevs.
Last night we walked to the Flamenco show with all the students in the program, and of course our “20” minute walk turned into an hour walk to this little bar/show place near the river in Sevilla. The show was pretty awesome, the women dancing were wicked good. It’s interesting to see from a tap dancers point of view how the nail every single sound just from their high heel shoes. The guy playing guitar was also SICK. We ended up sneaking out of the Flamenco place after the show because we were starving, and of course us “stupid Americans” manage to make our way to a McDonalds and some sort of Spanish version of subway at 11:30 at night. Everyone was thrilled because in Spain, McDonalds sells beer. So obviously the boys want to get wasted at McDonalds because its “cool”.
After that we made our way to the strip where all the bars were, we spent most of the night at this bar with a purple sign, No clue what it was called. Me and Andria started our night off with a glass of Disorono on the rocks (*cheers rose*) then somehow took shots of Absthine? Like wtf is that crap? It’s bright green and gross. I literally had to go to the bathroom and get sick after taking it. First of all I have no clue why it’s illegal in the US but its just gross. Also the drinks in Spain are about 10x stronger than the ones in the US or at least the ones at The Place Boston. Literally 2 drinks and I am a goner. I’ve felt so sick that I haven’t even had a chance to have a nice glass of wine, hopefully tonight I can manage to get one in.
But anyways we had fun at the bars talking to randos and eachother in Spanish, Andria making friends with some Argentinan man practicing her Spanish. Melonz has officially followed me to Spain, that nickname will never get old. Also, one thing I don’t know how I am going to deal with is how late everyone stays out. Clubs/Bars stay open til 6am, that’s way too much for me to handle. 2am is pushing it for me sometimes, people don’t even go out around here until 1am at the earliest. I NEED MY SLEEP. I hope I can get use to this..
Sunday- we all overslept by accident and missed the morning tour--- woopsies.
Around 1:30 Andria and I took a taxi to meet the group for Lunch at LaRaza which was amazing, a long sitdown lunch with delicious food. After us and Ryan walked over to La plaza de Espana and enjoyed the view and the nice weather, took a cab back where we all proceeded to snuggle in Max’s room.
we have our farewell dinner tonight at this gorgeous restaurant then we'll probably go out.
